Pavel Latushka and Deputy Head of the NAM Vladzimir Astapenka held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Ann Linde.

The Foreign Minister noted that Sweden assesses the actions of the Lukashenka regime in connection with the war in Ukraine as an aggressor. Based on complicity in the crime against the Ukrainian people, in the near future it is planned to adopt the fifth package of sanctions against Russia, which will include a block concerning the Lukashenka regime for assistance in the war against Ukraine. Thus, 70% of Belarusian exports to the EU countries will already fall under the sanctions.

Pavel Latushka informed about the mood of the Belarusian society regarding the war, stressing that 97% of the urban population of Belarus is against the war. Similar sentiments are common among military personnel, which is an important deterrent for the regime to use Belarusian military personnel in a ground operation against Ukraine.

The minister said that the Swedish General Office Prosecutor opened a criminal case on the fact of war crimes committed in Ukraine. Citizens of Belarus already have the right to submit to the General Prosecutor directly via e-mail information confirming the complicity of the Lukashenka regime and its accomplices in war crimes against Ukraine.

The head of the Swedish Foreign Ministry confirmed the position on the illegitimacy of Lukashenka. The interlocutors agreed that the functionally existing illegitimate regime of Lukashenka poses a threat to the independence of Belarus and a threat to the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine, and also undermines regional security.

Pavel Latushka separately informed about the activities of the propaganda state media of Belarus in untrue and distorted coverage of the war in Ukraine, as well as the plans and specific actions of the NAM to prevent the influence of propaganda on the public opinion of Belarusians.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to maintain contacts on a regular basis.
