To support the initiative of the Belarusian Sports Solidarity Fund to transfer the European Cycling Championship from Minsk, the National Anti-Crisis Management sent personal appeals to more than 300 MEPs. The NAM proposes the European Parliament members to join the open letter to the President of the UEC (European Cycling Union) Enrico Della Casa about the postponement of the European Championship.
– Such a major tournament cannot be held in a country where gross violations of human rights have been repeatedly identified, recorded and irrefutably proven. Cycling should not be associated with supporting the violent actions of a dictator, – said Vadim Krivosheev, who is responsible for youth policy and sports at the NAM.
As a reminder, the Belarusian Sports Solidarity Fund is seeking the transfer of EURO 2021 in track cycling from Belarus, which is to be held in Minsk from 23 to 27 June.
